Norway has signed the Convention on Nuclear Safety and is therefore obliged to report on the status of the nuclear facilities in Norway every third year. This is Norway’s eighth report under the convention.

I løpet av 1999 var det fem uhell eller beredskapshendelser som Statens strålevern måtte håndtere.

Det er gjennomført ei spørjeundersøking blant alle tannlegar i Noreg som hadde registrert e-postadresse hos Den norske tannlegeforening (NTF). I tillegg er det gjennomført tilsyn, i form av intervju og måleteknisk kontroll, hos 21 tannlegar. Rapporten samanfattar resultata frå spørjeundersøkinga og funn frå tilsyna.

In the summer of 2014, a joint Norwegian-Russian expedition will visit the site in the Barents Sea where the Russian nuclear submarine K-159 sank in 2003. K-159 represents a potential large source of radioactive contamination to the Arctic marine environment. The purpose of the expedition is to obtain new, up-to-date information about the level of radioactive contamination in the marine environment in the immediate vicinity of K-159 and in adjacent areas of the Barents Sea.

Rapporten inneholder definisjoner for volum- og doserparametere i ekstern stråleterapi. Videre inneholder den anbefalinger for bruk, dokumentasjon og minimum rapportering ved strålebehandling av den enkelte pasient.

During the 20 years since the accident, extensive monitoring of radioactive contamination in foodstuffs such as dairy products, sheep, reindeer, game, wild mushrooms and freshwater fish has been performed. The results from many of these investigations show that radioactive contamination after Chernobyl is a long lasting problem in many areas and that the use of countermeasures will be necessary for several years to come.
